Welcome to Keeping Tabs on Two

It has been awhile since I wrote for a blog. Life got in the way. I guess that is not a bad thing but now its my time to start it up again. To express myself online and share what I have learned, experiences, loves and hates.

First things first. Who Mommy Shoe Dive is:

My name is Rachel and I live north of Boston, MA. I have a degree in Photography, but unfortunately don't really use it. I work graphic design and marketing for a small invitation/personalized gift company. I love crafts and will try something new all the time (heck I bought a sewing machine because I wanted to make a doll blanket to match my daughter's room).

My husband, Larry, of 7 years is a chef (yes I know I am wicked lucky) so honestly I don't have to do the cooking - therefore there will not be a lot of recipes on this! We met at the gym about 9 years ago and it has been quite the adventure since.

We have a 2.5 year old daughter, Brynn. She is the apple of our eye - except when she is having a 2.5 year old melt down and then, well, let's be honest, I have had my moments! However, when she is good, she is amazing! The memories this child retains is unbelievable. I drive her to daycare every morning and we pass the vet on the way. Every morning she reminds me that is where we take Caputo to the doctor, except she goes with daddy because mommy was busy (they went together once almost 6 months ago!). She loves Peppa Pig ,therefore calls the jungle-gym a climbing frame and a bathing suit a swimming costume. She is blonde and adorable and I would do anything for her!

We are also expecting our second daughter ANY MINUTE NOW! I'm 39 weeks but had a few complications with my first so I was told to take it easy. I've been trying it all, well, not all. I am way to tired for sex, but maybe we'll try that route after my next appointment.

I was encouraged by my midwife to take it easy at my last last appointment and to stop working. I am a full-time-working mom and so these past two (yeah I know, only two) days has been kind of painful. It seems silly to me to have to waste my sacred maternity leave doing things like laundry and walking the mall trying to get labor started. We are in a country with one of the worst maternity leave policies which is ridiculous! I mean come on USA - for a "free world" you suck!

And then there is our first "kid" Caputo "00". Our Lab/boxer/pit mutt we adopted from Tennessee on Valentine's Day 2009. He is a complete part of the family with a bed in every room of the house and completely spoiled rotten. I wanted a dog growing up but my parents lied and said we were allergic. Larry grew up with two dogs at all times so when he started to travel a lot for work and I was coming home to an empty condo I convinced him it was time. It was love at first sight on Petfinder and here we are almost 6 years later!

So that's me.

This blog will be a place for me to share with you what I have learned about being a wife, a mom, a DIYer and woman.

I hope you enjoy!
